Taake - Nattestid ser porten vid (this is just a small part of the album)
I know some of you will consider this as shit/noise/WTF so I'll include a bonus track this time.
Satyricon - KING (Mainstream Norwegian black metal, catchy tunes and all that)

I know I know. I don't HATE Satyricon, it's great when you're on a binge with friends who don't really like metal., but not something I'll play when I'm alone (It's JUST Britney for me then :P), anywho.. I'm on a Dark Funeral binge at the mo' so.. heh

Taake - lacks melody...too monochromatic for my tastes.
Satyricon - melody. Pretty good stuff.

Well early Satyricon is pretty good, though I haven't really listened to any in years. I'm going through an Emperor/Gorgoroth phase right now. I do that every 6 months or so.

Quite spot on I'd say. That said, I prefer Taake ;)

The early stuff is .. well.. good yes.. But it's not like the late stuff is bad either. I guess it's more that they become more mainstream, most bands tend to do that. Metallica is a very good example of that. Heck.. Even Dave Matthews have become more mainstream.
I think that's just how it works, One of the few who actually made some of his more "non mainstream" music late on was Joseph Haydn.
